Our journey began with a dream to build a destination recording studio unlike any other, a dream that took shape in the spring of 2019.
Designed and constructed from the ground up, Barnhouse stands as a testament to our dedication to the creative process. The studio boasts a 1,200 sq ft. live room that is as acoustically superior as it is visually appealing.
We pride ourselves on offering the best of both worlds in recording technology, seamlessly blending the warmth of analog gear with the precision of digital equipment. Our inspiration, drawn from renowned destination recording studios worldwide, is evident in every aspect of our facility’s design and ethos.
Since our inception, we've sought to create a unique culture centered around the artist experience and to provide a calm, safe, and dependable sanctuary that nurtures creative expression.

Justin LaPointe
Owner, Producer & Engineer
With over 15 years of professional audio experience, Justin LaPointe is the heart and soul of Barnhouse Sound Productions.
Justin's passion for music was ignited in his youth, influenced by iconic artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. A multi-instrumentalist, Justin's musical journey started with the guitar and expanded to encompass a wide array of string instruments.
Justin's academic background includes studies in Business and Economics at the University of Victoria and Sound Engineering at Berklee College of Music.
Before Barnhouse, he honed his engineering skills at Electric City Sound in Victoria, BC, working with a diverse range of artists and projects.
Since launching Barnhouse, Justin has recorded and produced for various talents, including bands, solo artists, podcasters, and large ensembles, and has contributed to the sound design of multiple films and TV shows.
With an impressive portfolio of over 300 mixed and mastered songs, Justin's expertise is a cornerstone of our studio.
Ellis Frank
Intern Engineer
Ellis brings a vibrant energy to Barnhouse, stemming from his musical upbringing and love for Victoria’s underground music scene.
Since recording multi-track covers on his iPad at age 10 and sitting in on his dad's (Spirit of the West multi-instrumentalist Tobin Frank) recording sessions, Ellis has developed a solid foundation of audio engineering skills. These skills continued to grow through recording, mixing and mastering his music and flourished under the mentorship of Justin LaPointe.
